Awesomest Image du Jour LXXXVII

Wake the kids and phone the neighbors, our President is a natural-born citizen of the United States:

No one in Hawaii gets the long-form version fact, no has since the 1980s.  When the state issues proof of birth, they do so in a short-form version.  Even for presidential candidates.

Sitting Presidents, on the other hand, tend to have a bit more clout.  So, when Obama decided to ask for a waiver to the policy of not issuing the long-form, he got one.

The fact that he was basically forced to take such a step by a media circus that has grown to the point where it threatened to drown out the real issues of the day is a sad commentary on our society and the political climate it has produced.

Sadder still is the fact that Obama's perceived "otherness" will still drive some to hunt for proof that he is "not one of us".
